Environmental Specialist
Anja Van Deventer
As a trained terrestrial ecologist, I have applied myself in the South African mining industry for 21 years. My specialty is research in sustainable restoration practices and I have a passion for complex problem solving. I am appointed in SA as part of the UNCCD experts for the country. I am also a Director of the Land Rehabilitation Society of Southern Africa. I served as a council member at the Minerals Council’s Environmental Policy Committee for 8 years.

William Macdonald
I grew-up in Cape Town, South Africa, where I attended Wynberg Boys High School. I studied a M.Sc. in Economic Sedimentology at the University of Stellenbosch, after which I complete a commercial diving ticket to take-up a position as a divinggeologist with NAMDEB in Lüderitz, Namibia. In 2007 I transitioned from Geology to Mine rehabilitation at Namaqualand Mines when I was appointed as the Mine Rehabilitation Manager. In 2012 my responsibilities were expanded to include the proclamation and municipal services delivery for Kleinzee and Koingnaas private mining settlements, managed by De Beers.
